Encana Cenovus Phase III
Phase III
The objectives of the third and final phase of this demonstration project were to design, build and operate a 100 cubic meter per hour pilot CarbonSaver plant. The unit is housed in our Fredericton location.
The stages of development were:
- Beta tested
- Efficiency measurements validated
- NOx reductions validated
- REM Technology Inc. algorithm optimized
- Independent assessment report completed
- Foundry trials completed
The unit was commissioned in the spring of 2011, after which it underwent testing and early trial work. The hydrogen-enriched natural gas (HENG) produced by the CarbonSaver was used to fuel a natural gas-powered 250 kW genset, similar to those used to power compressors in natural gas pipelines and other industrial applications.
