Reducing Emissions with CarbonSaver™
The growing pressure for reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) and nitrogen oxide (NOx)
emissions has made natural gas much more important in the global energy mix.
Studies now show that the addition of even small amounts of hydrogen to natural gas can further reduce GHGs and NOx levels in the exhaust from internal combustion engines and natural gas turbines, as well as provide an efficiency improvement in the range of five per cent in some applications.
Atlantic Hydrogen's CarbonSaver™ plasma technology produces hydrogen enriched natural gas (HENG) using a simple, in-line treatment. Our patented process also removes carbon as an easily captured solid. Markets for derivative products include carbon black and carbon credits.
CarbonSaver™ leverages existing natural gas infrastructure, and can be applied from the wellhead to burner tip. It presents a business opportunity for gas suppliers, processors and distributors to market and sell HENG as ultra-low carbon fuel. In addition to HENG, end users have the potential to reduce their carbon footprint and improve their efficiency.
Atlantic Hydrogen is commercializing CarbonSaver™ through strategic alliances and collaborative partnerships. Our initial focus is on combined heat and power, compressors and natural gas vehicle refueling. In time, CarbonSaver™ markets are expected to expand to include power plants, industrial applications and "city gates" for commercial and residential users.
